Locate Accounting Link Cash Drawer Database

Overview

If trying to locate Accounting Link or Cash Drawer Database on a computer and the Support Tech is not finding them in the default locations or a mapped drive, there is two different ways to search for the database on that computer.

This could come in handy when a customer’s computer crashed and trying to locate a more current database to use.  It also comes in handy if a customer is using an old operating system or had updated that operating system and a Virtual Folder was created.

Virtual folders are formed when switching from different operating systems and certain data is moved to these folders. Example, XP user’s data for Accounting Link is stored in c:\Documents and Settings\Allusers\Application Data\TBOffice. This path is no longer available with current Windows operating systems so it creates a Virtual folder.  This folder would only be created if the existing computer had updated the operating system.

Resolution

To locate the database try one or both of the following options.

1.  Open Windows Explorer.  Click on the C drive.  In the search field, type TBOffice.  This will locate any folder labeled this on the C       drive.

2.  Open Windows Explorer.  Click on the C drive.  In the search field, type *tbo*.mdb  This will locate any mdb file regardless of                 the Accounting Link or Cash Drawer version.

This will also work on any mapped drive.  Support Tech would click on the mapped drive and then do the search. Example a mapped T drive or R drive instead of the C drive.  Then type in the search field.
